Theory in Practice
Case Study: Open Minds & Round Square
I have chosen Round Square as my case study for this case study assignment. Although Round Square incorporates many aspects of the connected classroom pedagogy, there are schools that have embodies their IDEALS to enhance student learning within the curriculum, as opposed to only through extracurricular activities.
Round Square is a network of schools in 40 different countries that are connected based on inspiring students to make a positive difference to their own lives and to others now and in the future. This is achieved through Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service (IDEALS).

Round Square helps facilitate how students can connect locally, nationally and globally. The pedagogical practices that are centered around it are project based, service learning, experiential learning and networked learning. Rather than seeing this as a separate entity why not use it as a driver to promote connectedness?
I will further examine this with the Open Minds in Calgary, Alberta project. While learning about the project, it was really interesting to hear about the development of a strong sense of citizenship through the program. In addition to this the realizations on, what they can do together can be better than being on their own. This in return may help facilitate students in experiencing they may have not experienced before. (Open Minds)
